11 years ago I started my spiritual journey. Since then my life has changed dramatically in many different ways. In this video, I will talk about the most impacting changes I have noticed over the years.

How spirituality can change your life

So here’s how spirituality can change your life.

  • You can get healthier physically and more aware of what your body needs.
  • You can become more aligned with your life’s purpose.
  • Your relationships can improve drastically.
  • You could become much stronger mentally and much more balanced.
  • You can have inner peace no matter what the circumstances in your life.

Get physically healthier through spirituality

Before I go into detail about all these points I would like to emphasize that not all of them may be the same for you. And that often before experiencing huge improvement things will likely get worse before they get better. I will explain why this is and each of these points.

First of all, you could experience an improvement in your overall health. This can be related to the fact that you are more in tune with who you really are, with body, mind, and Spirit and therefore understand better what you need to be in balance and feel healthier overall. Of course, this does not mean that by simply practicing spirituality you become healthier from one day to another. It has more to do with your state of mind and the awareness of what you need to feel better physically. And this then leads to you feeling inspired to do more exercise or to do a certain type of exercise or to change your diet or to do all of those things, step by step.

For example, when I suffered from severe anxiety between 2014 and 2016 I decided to start with yoga and that was a fundamental part of the improvement that I experienced in my anxiety back in the day. I also changed my diet. First I became vegetarian and a few years ago I became vegan and it feels great, it feels more natural. Because I want to eat life and not death. But I will never be one of those people that is taking it to the extreme. I’m not against people who eat meat. I did that for the majority of my life and enjoyed it often. So I understand and I also understand that people could have individual nutritional needs that maybe require them to eat animal products.

As I mentioned before, practicing spirituality doesn’t mean you become healthier it just means that you could feel inspired to do something to improve your health. For example, currently, I’m not feeling extremely healthy and I don’t do a lot of exercise, which I really should. I don’t have a lot of time left in between my work and the Youtube project. So it doesn’t mean that all of a sudden everything flows. You still need to prioritize and probably I should prioritize a little bit differently. But this is a choice that I made in the past months in I haven’t felt a huge urge to change that for now.

Become more aligned with your life’s purpose via spirituality

And the lack of urge to change my exercising habits and maybe even my eating habits comes exactly from the next point and that is that you could just become more aligned with your life’s purpose. As maybe some of you know, I work in a big multinational company leading a big team in a customer service environment. It comes with a lot of overtime and a lot of stress. There are quite a few nice things about the job but of course, the stress and overtime is not something that I see myself doing for the rest of my life. So that inspired me to come back to Youtube and to create the blog that accompanies it.

For many many years, I have already felt some sort of a calling that I would do well helping other people on their spiritual journey. Creating content for people to learn from, and to grow together with me. I have been moderately successful in the past but never really had the perseverance to continue, and to stick with it, until now. Now I see it differently and I have prioritized it above many many other things in life. And I love it, I really enjoy it. That’s the most important thing. But I know that if I stick with it, at some point it will pay off. And I know that if this time I don’t persevere that again within three, four, or five years I will feel the same urge again to get back to it. It has happened so many times and I know it will continue to happen until I just follow my intuition.

Improve your relationships through your spiritual practice

The next point is probably something that is most common for everyone who starts on a spiritual journey at some point. And that is that relationships change. It’s not so much that relationships change it’s more that your perception and awareness of the world around you and of yourself changes. So often you hear people say “I’m losing my friends because they don’t understand me. I understand them, but I don’t feel aligned with their way of thinking and living anymore.” And that pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. You evolve, you move on, and start to prioritize different things in life while your friends, maybe childhood friends, continue with their habits, and their way of thinking and acting, the way they prioritize things in life.

And at some point, it’s only logical that there is a mismatch between you and your old friends. And it’s perfectly okay to let them go there’s no need for a struggle there is no need for a fight. In this type of situation, you have to understand that you are moving on. You are the one that is changing. And these are perfect situations in which you can learn how to deal with interpersonal conflicts with love, and compassion, and understanding. But to still stand your ground and to be loyal to yourself, your beliefs, and your newfound perspective on life.

There will be times that you will feel lonely because you haven’t fully integrated your new perspective on life yet. And you will feel that there’s nobody like you. You will feel that no one understands you and that it’s difficult to find like-minded people. But that’s just a phase. It’s not that it’s not true, it’s just something that will not bother you anymore. You will be fine with being alone, and you will come to understand that being alone and lonely is definitely not the same.

And, on a positive note, there are like-minded people around. They might just be a little bit harder to find. But often people don’t express themselves openly in public and it doesn’t mean that they don’t have the same thoughts or feelings or perspectives on life as you have. You just need to be patient and try to make real connections whenever you connect with other people. And they will come, those connections will come and they will be great and they will feel natural.

Gain mental strength and balance walking your spiritual path

The next point is about mental strength and balance and this one took quite some years for me. Sometimes it feels like it comes and goes but this is normal. Because when you continue to dig deep in your inner world, in your unconscious mind, you will find a lot of things that you really did not want to find. Fears, little addictions that everyone has, habits that you really don’t like about yourself, and overall character traits and personality traits that you wish you didn’t have or did not create in your lifetime.

But this takes patience and it takes time. You can’t expect yourself to change something from one day to another that you have been building up for over decades. It took time to build it up, and it will take time to break it down. But with a lot of discipline and perseverance, you will be able to become more mentally stable and balanced. This will give you a different energy, a different aura, and confidence that maybe before was a lot more fake and had more to do with pretending to feel good and strong instead of actually really feeling it inside.

Find inner peace no matter the circumstances with spirituality

The biggest and most important change that I found in my spiritual journey is to come to a point that I am capable of feeling inner peace no matter what circumstance in my life. Now, of course, I can only compare with what I have experienced in my life before. And I understand and realize that my life hasn’t been that complicated in comparison to other people’s lives. But problems, and suffering, and pain, and difficulties in life are always relative. The problem that you have at that certain moment is simply the problem that you have. And it doesn’t really matter if it’s a big or small problem. It depends on how you perceive it. So, in that sense, all problems are the same. Big or small, a problem is a problem is a problem.

Especially in the past two to three years I found a huge change in my inner peace and as I mentioned before, I have an incredibly stressful job with a lot of pressure and a lot of responsibility. And still, I manage to find inner peace and not only to find it but also to have it in most circumstances. And I simply know that in many of these circumstances years ago I would have had big problems maintaining inner peace. I would have maybe been on sick leave, or I would have had worse relationships with people. I maybe would have quit my job at a certain point.

But now I really have come to understand that it doesn’t matter what you do in life, what your particular situation is in life, it matters how you deal with it inside. And we have the power to feel inner peace at all times. But don’t expect this to happen overnight. It took me 8 to 9 years to come to a place that I started to see a big change. It takes a lot of discipline, perseverance, and patience. But it will come if you stick with it.

So these were the five most important changes that I’ve had in my life that I contribute to my spiritual practice in one way or another. I hope this helps you to understand what might be coming for you or what you are experiencing at the moment. And remember, things usually tend to get worse before they get better and that’s exactly the same in your spiritual path. So, be patient and persevere in your actions and thoughts it will get better.
